Advocacy Group Raises Concerns Over Electoral Commission's Contract with INOLINK

The Progressive Youth Federation Ghana (PYFG) has expressed serious concerns over the Electoral Commission's (EC) decision to award a contract to INOLINK, a private printing company, for the production of ballot papers for the 2024 general elections. PYFG claims that INOLINK’s involvement in the 2020 elections was plagued by corruption and violations of electoral regulations, which they believe undermined the integrity of the process. According to the group, INOLINK printed over one million unauthorized excess ballot papers, posing a major risk to the fairness and transparency of the election. "This is a blatant violation of Ghana’s electoral laws and a direct threat to our democracy," said J.R. Worglo, the group’s spokesperson. "We cannot allow the EC to once again compromise the credibility of our elections." The Rotaract Club of Accra-Labone marked Global Handwashing Day by visiting Flagstaff House Basic School and donating vital hygiene supplies to highlight the importance of handwashing and sanitation The club donated items such as handwashing soap, tissues, and 4 CD Wash Stations to enhance the school's hygiene practices and promote regular handwashing, a simple but crucial step in preventing illness. Rotaractor Ethel Odoi, a general nurse, taught the process of washing the hands. Asankragua: Small-scale miners burn galamsey equipment on River Tano

  A task force from the National Association of Small Scale Miners conducted a major operation on the River Tano in the Asankragua and it areas Amenfi West District on Wednesday, September 25th, targeting illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey.  During the raid, the task force seized various equipment used by the illegal miners. However, upon spotting the task force, the miners fled the scene, abandoning their machinery and tools on the river. With no one to arrest, the task force decided to destroy the mining machines left behind. The equipment found on the river, including dredging machines, were set ablaze. Other items such as water pumps, motors, and tanks were confiscated as evidence. A woman identified as Sarah Fokou, who has been given a nickname as Inspector General of Police (IGP), due to the way she uses officers in the Police force to carry out her bidding, has allegedly been using illegal means to seize properties in East Legon Ajiireganor.  Despite not owning any land or property in the area according to information, Forjour has reportedly been using the Ghana Police Service to forcibly take legally acquired properties from their rightful owners without proper documentation or Court orders. Sources indicate that Fokou has been exploiting the ‘IGP’ title to confiscate property documents from her victims, yet she has consistently failed to prove ownership when questioned by the East Legon Police Station.  Property owners in the area, many of whom are foreign nationals, have become increasingly worried as Fokuo’s actions continue unchecked.
