Advocacy Group Raises Concerns Over Electoral Commission's Contract with INOLINK
The Progressive Youth Federation Ghana (PYFG) has expressed serious concerns over the Electoral Commission's (EC) decision to award a contract to INOLINK, a private printing company, for the production of ballot papers for the 2024 general elections.
PYFG claims that INOLINK’s involvement in the 2020 elections was plagued by corruption and violations of electoral regulations, which they believe undermined the integrity of the process. According to the group, INOLINK printed over one million unauthorized excess ballot papers, posing a major risk to the fairness and transparency of the election.
"This is a blatant violation of Ghana’s electoral laws and a direct threat to our democracy," said J.R. Worglo, the group’s spokesperson. "We cannot allow the EC to once again compromise the credibility of our elections."
PYFG is urging the EC to take immediate action to address their concerns and to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process. The group is also calling for greater transparency and accountability in awarding contracts related to electoral services.
"We refuse to stand by while the future of our country is jeopardized," Worglo stated. "The EC must act now to ensure the elections are conducted fairly and transparently."
If their concerns go unaddressed, PYFG has threatened to pursue legal action, determined to hold the EC accountable for any potential violations.
"We are prepared to explore all legal options to prevent the EC from compromising the integrity of the electoral process," Worglo warned.
As the 2024 elections approach, the group’s call for transparency is expected to heighten scrutiny around the EC’s decisions and the overall electoral process.
