No Room for Violence in 2024 General Elections – NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned what it describes as attempts by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to disrupt the upcoming 2024 general elections through violent tactics. Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the NPP, accused the NDC of orchestrating plans to intimidate voters and destabilize the electoral process.

According to Boakye, the NPP has uncovered disturbing schemes involving the NDC training individuals in various communities under the guise of private security exercises. He claimed these "thugs" are being prepared to create chaos, especially in the Ashanti Region, a known NPP stronghold. Specific incidents were cited, such as alleged training activities in the Obuasi East constituency.

Boakye further alleged that the NDC plans to use ambulances to transport weapons and deploy armed individuals on motorbikes to instill fear in voters. He also claimed that these operations are being coordinated by key NDC members, including a retired Commissioner of Police, to escalate insecurity in the Ashanti Region and other areas favoring the NPP.

Despite these concerns, Boakye assured Ghanaians that security forces are well-equipped to handle any threats. He called on all citizens to remain vigilant and resist any attempts to undermine the integrity of the elections.

In addressing the NDC’s accusations that the NPP is plotting to rig the elections, Boakye dismissed the claims as baseless and lacking credible evidence. He reiterated the NPP’s confidence in securing victory in a free and fair election. He emphasized that voting, counting, and collation would be conducted transparently at polling stations nationwide.

The NPP reaffirmed its commitment to using lawful means to protect the electoral process and preserve Ghana’s democracy. Boakye expressed confidence in the party’s presidential candidate, Al Hajj Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, declaring him the next president of the Republic of Ghana.

As the December 7 elections approach, the NPP urged all stakeholders to prioritize peace and ensure the democratic process remains unhindered by violence or intimidation.
