DDLF PARTNER MS GALAXY TO EMPOWER KAYAYEI WITH TRANSFORMATIVE SKILLS





The David Douglas Leadership Forum in collaboration with the winner of Ms Galaxy International USA 2024, Keerah Yeowang  held a transformative training program for  some head porters commonly known as ‘Kayayei’ at Madina Kkayayei Empowerment Training Center.
 
The day long workshop focused on specialized skilled areas such as; Pageantry, Modeling, Make up, Self Esteem and Self Confidence.
 
Ms Keerah Yeowang highlighted that as a  queen, it was her project to train young women on how to get back their self esteem and to build self confidence.
She expressed how overwhelming it was to be at the Kayayei Empowerment Training Center and be part of the pioneers to contribute to the development of Kayayei.
 
" I chose Kayayei empowerment center because it is a perfect way for me to give back to the women who are  just like me, she said."


Mr Isaac Adu Bamfo, the  Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer for the David Douglas Leadership Forum  (DDLF) said, the initiative is part of their social responsibility as an organization to empower the youth ( Kayayei women)in skill development, adding value to equip Kayayei women  in transformative skills and to unlock their potentials for economic independence.
 
" The development of the youth is our responsibility, as individuals as we believe in the future of our country. To believe in the future of the youth, we have to invest in the youth so let us all come together to contribute what we can to impact the life of the youth, he added."


The Kayayei Empowerment Training Centre at Madina was commissioned by the Vice President of the Republic Ghana
The primary aim of the Kayayei Empowerment Programme is to train 5,000 girls between May and November 2024 with 600 Kayayei per cohort each month and provide practical skills and knowledge to participants to prepare them for specific trades and occupations.

 
Some participants expressed their sincere gratitude to DDLF and Miss Keerah for such unwavering support in empowering women.
