KASA Initiative Ghana Hosts 15th Annual CSOs Natural Resources and Environment Sector Review Forum

The KASA Initiative Ghana successfully organized its 15th Annual Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) Sector Review Forum, a platform dedicated to examining critical issues within Ghana’s natural resources and environmental sectors.
This year’s forum, themed “Confronting the Scourge of Illegal Mining: Required Policy Change and the Role of Collective Commitment”, provided a crucial opportunity for stakeholders to deliberate on illegal mining and its extensive impacts on the economy, environment, and society.
Key Discussions and Objectives
The event centered on communiqués addressing pressing policy issues, recommendations, and demands for governmental action to achieve environmental sustainability goals. Mr. Kojo Kyei Yamoah, Facilitator of the KASA Initiative and Executive Director of Help Foundation Africa, emphasized that the forum was dedicated to exploring actionable solutions for mitigating the adverse effects of illegal mining.
Discussions extended to broader concerns, including illegal mining's impacts on critical sectors such as forestry, land, fisheries, water and sanitation, oil and gas, and climate change. These conversations underscored the urgency of policy reforms and collaborative efforts to safeguard Ghana’s natural resources and environment.
